Introduction
Trek 2 is named that way because it is the
sequel to a game called Trek 1. If you haven't played that one, I recommend downloading it
also. Although Trek 2 was based on it, Trek 1 has its unique features, such as the ability
to beam to a planet, ship, or starbase, the option of communicating with them, and most of its
missions are based on the original Star Trek movies. Trek 2 is slower, but for good
reasons. It has many advantages:
If you have a previous version of Trek 2
(It does not display "Version 1.1" in the title screen), you will have to download the new version
in order to play these episodes. EPISODE1 has the same missions as the earlier TREKDATA.
However, it has been slightly altered to run with the new version. Version 1.1 is
better than the original version in the following ways:
Starting to Play
In order to begin you first need to have
the following programs on your TI-82:
Episode 1 comes with Pic1 of Admiral Zwicker. Episode 2 uses
Pic1 and Pic2, an officer sitting down
inside of a starbase. When you are finished playing one episode, all you have to do is put
the next one on and change the first and only line of the program TREK2DAT accordingly. To
start playing, choose the TREK2 program. You don't need to run any of the other programs.
They'll be run by TREK2 and won't do anything by themselves.
Briefing
At the beginning of each mission, Admiral
Zwicker will tell you what's happening where. Take notice of which star system he mentions.
This is where you will need to warp to complete the mission.
Combat
There is a scope that starts in the middle
of your main viewscreen. Use the arrow keys to move this scope. To hit something with
phasers, put the scope on or above it and press the 2nd key. to hit something that has something else underneath it, or just
to fire a photon torpedo at something, place the scope directly over
it and hit the ALPHA key.
