******Don't Go To Jail****** (V.1 / 05AUG01) for TI-83+ / by Taren Nauxen *Programmed in TI-83+ BASIC* **************************** Condensed instructions are included in the program. Thorough Intructions: Intro: A new twist on an old favorite. If you have ever played Monopoly, you know that the object is to collect properties. Don't Go To Jail is the same concept. The player rolls ten dice in an attempt to gain properties. To play, run prgmGOTOJAIL, and make sure, if you have high score lists, that they are unarchived. Note: When first run, this game will clear lists L4, L5, and L6 to use for the game. It will also create lists HS0-8. These are the high score statistics. Solitaire: Play alone for a predetermined number of rounds. Game length can be set from 5-40 rounds in increments of five. VS: Play against a friend in a race for points. VS mode requires two unlinked calculators. Pick a point goal (from 10000-99999) and the player to reach it in the fewest number of rounds is the winner. You can also use this feature alone. Help: This is a help file inside the program itself that will give you a crash course of the game. Records: Use this feature to skim through the play records. They are listed in a top-ten fashion: First through Fifth are the on left, and Sixth through Tenth are on the right. ---- Gameplay: Each round is begun by rolling the dice. At this point, the player has no properties allocated and therefore zero points so far for the round. All ten dice are rolled. There are only seven displayed because three are labelled "GO", "TO", and "JAIL". On a given roll, one or more of these may pop up. If they do appear, the dice are automatically held. If you obtain all three words, you "go to jail": your round is finished and you get no points for that round. The only way to get rid of them is to end your round. To hold dice, press the corresponding white (numerical) key. They are 1-4-7-8-9-6-3. Once a button is pressed, a dot appears in the middle. This is the working light. It's on when the game is working, so wait for it to go off before making your next move. To reroll unheld dice, press [5]. Held dice are marked with an H. (Held dice cannot be unheld once you choose them!) Reroll dice to get a chance at making a property set, and scoring more points. To end your round before you "go to jail", press [2]. Your goal is to accumulate points through properties. Collecting individual properties will give you their face value in properties. As a complete set, they are worth a lot more, just like in the original Monopoly. Two 50's = 600 pts, W.W.+ELEC = 800 (Water Works/Electric Company are 100 each) (3) 100's = 1000 (3) 150's = 1500 (3) 200's = 1800 (4) RR's = 2500 (RR's are 200 each) (3) 250's = 2200 (3) 300's = 2700 (3) 400's = 3000 Two 500's = 3500 WILD: When you hold a wild, the program will prompt you to assign it a value.
