CHECKERS v4.83- Program Overview: This is checkers for the TI-83+ and TI-83+ SE and now the TI-83 as well! It runs at full speed on the Silver Edition, and somewhat slower on the normal 83+ and 83. To begin playing, you should install the two program files from this *.zip on your calculator. Once this is done, select "CHECKERS" on the calc and run it! Controls: Directional Pad - Moves pointer to pieces and allows you to choose which way to jump. ENTER - Selects a piece. DEL - De-selects a piece. CLEAR - Quits and restores your previous graph settings. 2nd - Goes to save menu. Game Play: This game is for 2 players, and doesn't support AI or 2 separate calculators. The game has been re-coded a good deal so all you need to do is hit play for a new game or go into the load menu for an old one. Play proceeds exactly as in normal checkers. All the rules I am aware of are built-in. You can double jump, get "kinged," etc... You cannot jump your own men. The cursor will go to the square of the piece you last moved if you just jumped someone and to the square you moved from if you made a normal move. This helps speed up play as most people choose another piece around one they just moved to place as a backup, and people who just jumped are often in the line of fire and wish to move the last piece they used to jump to someplace safe. To save a game: 1) Go to SAVE or LOAD 2) Select SAVE (Must be done during play by hitting the 2nd key) To load a game: 1) Go to SAVE or LOAD 2) Select LOAD To erase a saved game: 1) Go to SAVE or LOAD 2) Select RESET (Don't worry, this will NOT reset your calculator!) Known Bugs + Version History: v4.83 - Added beta support for TI-83 - If any problems arise running this version on the 83, please contact me! v4.00: - One final bug involving a matrix fixed - Made program smaller by optimizing certain areas with re-used variables - Added key binds in about menu so you won't forget them v3.10: - All known bugs fixed in full - Added cursor placement variables to put cursor to last piece position - Removed initialization menu and built full initialization into PLAY selection - Still needs to be fully optimized fro speed and size v2.70: - All bugs from prior versions should be fixed - One bug involving jumping still exists - Double jumping rules fixed - Kings show up immediately rather than after you move them v1.10: - All previous bugs fixed in part - Buggy save feature randomly terminates program with errors - Must always initialize to play a new game - Double jump bug allows players to not double jump as they should - Double jump bug used with terminate key allows to move an entirely separate piece - Not extrodinarily optimized - Optimized for my being able to read it personally - Code is jumbled a good deal v1.00: - Players can move in any direction at any time - Board creation extremely slow - Directional movement very tedious - Almost unable to see directional arrow for jumps on screen - Allowed jumping of own men at random - No double jump capacity at all - No checking for boundaries on board - No save feature - No way to get to far away piece without hitting left/right over and over - No tracking for win - No ability to detect win Credits: Program Coding & Design: Chris Canik Program Testing: Bryce Checkers for the TI-83+ is Copyright 2003 by Chris C.
