Checkers for the TI-83+ is Copyright 2003 by Chris Canik. You are required by law to leave any information regarding the creation/creator of this program intact! Program Overview: This is checkers for the TI-83+ and TI-83+ SE. It runs at full speed on the Silver Edition, and somewhat slower on the normal 83+. To begin playing, you should install the two program files from this *.zip on your calculator. Once this is done, select "CHECKERS" on the calc and run it! The following cannot be stressed enough: THIS IS A BETA VERSION! DON'T HIT PLAY AND EXPECT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN THAT EASILY!!! Because the is still in development, you must follow these steps in order to begin a new game: 1) Go to #4 in the main menu (INITIALIZE). 2) You can do each the MATRIX and the WINDOW separately, or do them both at the same time with option #4 (ALL). 3) Select HOME if you are not already back at the main screen. 4) Select PLAY to play! To load a game: 1) Go to SAVE/LOAD 2) Select LOAD To erase a saved game: 1) Go to SAVE/LOAD 2) Select RESET (Don't worry, this will NOT reset your calculator!) Controls: Directional Pad - Moves pointer to pieces and allows you to choose which way to jump. ENTER - Selects a piece. DEL - De-selects a piece (see errors for a known bug). CLEAR - Should quit.... I think ;). 2nd - Goes to save menu. There may be other controls, but I can remember them so they can't be too important :). Game Play: This game is for 2 players, and doesn't support AI or 2 separate calculators. Alternate turns, and follow normal rules. Most checkers rules are built in to the game, but some aren't so be careful no one cheats! I only know of 2 rules which can be evaded so far, so please report bugs that aren't in the known bug section! So far, because it is still in Beta development, it is not fully complete and you will notice several flaws that have not been checked for! Here are the Known Bugs + Version History: v1.1 (Current): - All previous bugs fixed in part - Buggy save feature randomly terminates program with errors - Must always initialize to play a new game - Double jump bug allows players to not double jump as they should - Double jump bug used with terminate key allows to move an entirely separate piece - Not extrodinarily optimized - Optimized for my being able to read it personally - Code is jumbled a good deal v1.0: - Players can move in any direction at any time - Board creation extremely slow - Directional movement very tedious - Almost unable to see directional arrow for jumps on screen - Allowed jumping of own men at random - No double jump capacity at all - No checking for boundaries on board - No save feature - No way to get to far away piece without hitting left/right over and over - No tracking for win - No ability to detect win PLEASE REPORT ALL BUGS, ISSUES, PROBLEMS, COMMENTS, ETC.....
