You don't need to have LAD.83l/LAD.8xl (list AD) or Str0.83s/Str0.8xs for this game to work. The program will now generate those by itself when run the first time. Do not delete Str0.83s/Str0.8xs as it will void LAD.83l/LAD.8xl (list AD) and cause the game to malfunction. If you absolutely have to, delete both or neither. Also, please do not tamper with LAD.83l/LAD.8xl (list AD) since there are many markers and things that could cause the game to malfunction if tampered with. Description ----------- Alien Defender is one of my first games. It is another shoot-em-up space style arcade game, with a Galaxian-type concept. It has cool graphics(at least for BASIC) and animation and has a simple yet addictive gameplay. Here's the scoop: You are the theta symbol(an O with a line through it, sort of looks like the zero(0)). You move across the bottom of the screen. The enemy is the X. It falls down from the top of the screen. The object of the game is to hit the X before it reaches the bottom of the screen. Once you hit the X, you move to the next level where the fun starts all over again. Keys: 2nd-Shoot Left arrow-Move left Right arrow-Right left Alpha-Warp to middle Del-End game Clear-Quick exit Points are awarded as follows: Every second=1 pt. Each X killed=10 pts. End of levels 1-3(Difficulty 1)=20 pts. End of levels 4-6(Difficulty 2)=25 pts. End of levels 7-9(Difficulty 3)=30 pts. End of levels 10-12(Difficulty 4)=40 pts. End of levels 12-Beyond(Difficulty 5)=50 pts. As you can tell, there are varying levels of difficulty. As you get into higher levels, the X falls down faster and faster. If you get a high score, you will be prompted for a name. Then, at the main screen, the high score, level, and name will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Thank you for playing Alien Defender! Known bugs ---------- -For some reason, on my TI-83 Plus, the randInt( function stopped working. This is essential to the game as it determines the location of the aliens. Thus, all the aliens fell from the first column. Anyway, I have no clue what causes this(maybe Ion), but a quick remedy is to archive everything, or back it up on the computer, and then reset the RAM. Remember to re-install Ion after you do this though.
