POINT PLOTTER Version 2.0 SP1 by Kiros Lionheart -- CONTENTS -- I. Installation II. Getting Started III. The IMAGE CHANGES Menu IV. Re-plotting and Re-defining Data V. Using AutoZoom VI. Saving and Loading Data VII. Settings VIII. Known Bugs IX. Version History -- I - Installation -- To install this program on your TI-83, just send pntplotr.83g to your calculator. It should ungroup automatically, so there is no need to ungroup it on your computer. The source files are the text file [program name]_source.txt. To run the program, run PNTPLOTR on your calculator. NOTE: This program should work just fine on a TI-83 Plus, but I suggest you get the TI-83 Plus version if you have one, as I put in archiving commands that will make your data safer. -- II - Getting Started -- The first thing you will want to do is select NEW DATA to the main menu. You must enter the data points as a list. So if you wanted to plot the four points (-5,5), (5,5), (5,-5), (-5,-5), you would have to enter them on the calculator as {-5,5,5,5,5,-5,-5,-5}. You will get an error if you try to enter an odd number of list elements. Once you enter the data, it will be plotted automatically. Press ENTER to be taken to the IMAGE CHANGES menu. -- III - The IMAGE CHANGES Menu -- The IMAGE CHANGES menu is the bulk of the program. From here, you can edit your points by adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing. However, I suggest that the first thing you do is save your data by selecting SAVE DATA, which is on the next page of this menu. This is because you will not be able to go back after making changes without re-loading your data. If you select a math operation (menu items 1-4), you will be asked whether you want to add to the X, Y, or both points. When you select one, you will be asked how much the chage will be. When you press enter, your data points will be re-plotted with the new values. It's that easy! -- IV - Re-plotting and Re-defining Data -- If you select RE-PLOT DATA from the IMAGE CHANGES menu, the current values will be drawn on the graph screen. The main purpose of this feature is to allow you to view the data at any time, without having to make changes. If you select RE-DEFINE DATA, you will first be asked for confirmation. This is because your current data (if it is not saved) will be deleted if you continue with this operation. If you enter 1 (yes), you can enter in any data you want in the same fasion as you did the first time. -- V - Using AutoZoom -- AutoZoom is a little subroutine that I made so that your window would automatically be re-sized to fit your data. You don't have to do anything different to run it, as it is run automatically whenever you make changes. -- VI - Saving and Loading Data -- To save or load data, you must first select NEXT PAGE from the IMAGE CHANGES menu. To save, select SAVE DATA. Duh. You will be asked for confirmation, because this action will overwrite any save data you currently have. To load, select LOAD DATA. Once again, you will be asked for confirmation, because proceeding will overwrite any temporary unsaved data you are currently using. You can also load data from the main menu. -- VII - Settings -- You can change certain settings by going to the SETTINGS menu, which can be accessed from the main menu. To change window settings, just type in new values. For all others, typing 0 turns option off, while 1 turns it on. Your settings will be saved when you go back or when you select SAVE SETTINGS. -- VIII - Known Bugs -- -AutoZoom a little too constraining -Changing window settings doesn't do much good because of AutoZoom -You will get an error if you try to load data that isn't there -Your data will be deleted by ClrAllLists, but this is not a problem you have a TI-83 Plus and are using the TI-83 Plus version -- IX - Version History -- 2.0 SP1 -Included data lists with group There have been so many changes since v1.2 SP2, I'm not even going to list them all here. -=-=-=-=- Questions?
