Hmm.. Not knowing TI-89's too well, but, if they're anything like the
81-86's, you need to take out all the batteries (including the backup), then
press on a few times (like 10). It sorta tries to turn the calc on, but, no
power is there to run it, and it clears all the capacitors in the calc (the
ones that normally keep the memory charged long enough so you can replace
batteries without the calc dying.) Try taking them all out, then pressing
on. Might work, might not.. Just taking the batteries out and leaving it be
for a few minutes won't do it. I've left them out for 3-4 hours, and it
still saved everything...
