I tend to agree with this.
The stability of any operating system has alot to do with 
the hardware its running on (IE, stability of the particular
driver set it happens to be using). Don't think that just because 
you got your drivers from a big company that they are going
to be well written.

In windows 9x marginal drivers are particularly bad because
of the driver architecture that Microsoft picked, which
sacrifices stability for speed.

My 95 machine with very few hardware options (standard 16 color
vga, 4 IDE drives, serial, parallel and not much else) has been
up for over 6 months, no problems.
