I was wondering if anybody had tried to order the 72" black 2.5mm stereo
plug from Mouser electronics.. http://www.mouser.com It's part number
172-2204 on page 96 of the May 97 - Jul 97 catalog. It looks like it has a
detent on the tip, but has anybody found whether this cable will work or
not? If it does, they are $2.47 ea for orders of 10 or more...

As for the female 2.5mm connector, I think part numbers:

161-2502 3 conductor PCB Phone jack, PCB mount $1.27 ea

and

161-2503 3 conductor SMD Phone jack, suface mount $1.36 ea

will work... If your REALLY good at soldering, I'd get the surface mount
version... It's quite a bit smaller.

Both of them are schematically:

[ \/------------O
[ /\---------O
-------------------O

So they are Tip/Ring/Sleeve(TRS) Normally Open (NO)

This is true AFAIK, but does anyone know if they are Normally Closed (NC)

Schematically

[ \/------------O
[ /\---O
| \/---O
| /\---------O
|------------------O

I guess I could pull mine apart again and check. Oh well, any help would be
great.
