i assume you are a student at ncsu..?
chip manufacturers will almost always send free samples to college 
students, especialy if you are an EE major. 
i have never dealt with a manufacturer that wouldent help out college 
students.  just put "colege student" as your occupation or job title
it has always worked for me.
