TI-H: I have this idea...

Ok. Everyone seems to want an IR link. I think this might work,
but I haven't had the time to test the idea AT ALL. Here you go:

The design for each side of the calc should be something like this: the
transmitter hooked up to the red wire, and the reciever hooked up to the
white wire. EVERYTHING is at the same wavelength, so there should be no
problems with interference.

The system will need to be controlled by a ZShell program, and anyone
wanting to use the idea in a program will have to modify the way things are
sent. The transfer should work like this:

Recieving calc is named "R"
Sending calc is named "S"
(BTW: if this is hard to understand, put it into a text editor and replace
R with "the recieving calc" and S with "the sending calc")

S bleeps out a signal to alert R that S will be transmitting shortly. R
bleeps back and tells S that R can hear S. S hears, and waits a VERY short
time for R to get ready. Then S begins sending the data. Depending on the
nature of the data, it may be in packets that will be checked after R
recieves them, or it may be simple characters (a chat prog) so no checking
will be used, just the "I'm sending, listen! Ok, I'm listening!" thing
described in the first 3 scentences of this paragraph.

Well, there it is. I have no clue if this will work, but that's the idea.
If any of you don't have massive English assigments hanging over your head
by a string, please try this and tell me how it goes. Thanx!
