It all works the same way as indeglo.  You have to run A LOT of voltage
through it to make it light up.  The more voltage, the brighter it lights
up.  The amperage really doesn't matter, that's how it works in watches.
The 3v from the battery is steped up to a few hundred at a very small
amperage.
