true, but one should still always use the manual as a starting point. when i
am working on a problem and i need so manipulate data in some way, if a
command for doing what i need doesn't pop into my head immediately, the
first thing i do is check the manual to make _sure_ there isn't a built-in
command for it. if there isn't, then i write my own solution. i see where
you're coming from, but i still hold to my earlier statements.
