I don't know about any C++ tutorials, but if you don't wanna spend a lot of
money, you should try Java. Contrary to popular belief, you can make more with
it than just applets. It really has a lot in common with C++, especially the
object oriented approach. One big difference though: it's simpler, clearer, and
just makes more sense. You can get everything you need ( The latest version of
the Java Development Kit and a great, very complete set of tutorials ) from Sun
microsystems, the company that made it. Just go to java.sun.com (I think that's
the url). It's a pretty big download though.

Java is the first thing I learned after QBasic and TIB, and I enjoyed it quite a
bit. The reason I chose it is that everything you need or even could want
(except those awesome GUI builder IDEs) is available for free on the net. And
finally, make sure you understand that you can make applications in java too,
not just applets and don't confuse Java and JavaScript, two very different
things.

Well that was my two cents,

Philipp Keller
