What if there is already a mat3 on the calc?  The dim command won't clear
the var will it?

when you do the {8,8}->dim MAT3
the mat is
[[00000000][00000000][00000000][00000000][00000000][00000000][00000000][0000
0000]]

so why do you need to do the fill?
