Gee.. that sounded really helpful. :)

To just draw a function on the graph screen, you can
use DrawFunc (or DrawF or DrawFunction, depending on
which calculator you use)

You can look in your Draw Menu for the correct name,
either from a button on the calculator, or on the menu
after pressing Graph.

On the TI-85, the command will look like the following.

DrawF x^2

However, if you want to SAVE the function to a variable
like y1 on a TI-85, you can do the following

y1=x^2

Or, if you intended it to be from an input,

InpSt A
St»Eq(A,y1)

Of course, the » is the dark shaded arrow; you can find
the command in your string menu, [2nd] 6
