No new elements are created in the Tevatron collider. (When something has an
energy of 1.8 TRILLION electron volts, it will make a big smash. Much lower
energies are used, not to mention completely different ingredients, to make
new atoms.)

Fermilab is in Illinois, but in Batavia. I should know. I've visited there and
was born pretty close to it. Its full name is Fermi National Accelerator
Laboratory. You can find their (wicked cool) webpage at www.fnal.gov.
