Problem Solved

Hi all,

I just thought I'd share with you a recent experience which may (?) save
some of you from ripping out your hair later. :)

About three weeks ago, I turboed my TI-86, including an SPST switch to
select high/low speed. All went well until my soldered-on power wires
came loose from my power supply. When I reconnected them, I accidentally
reversed the polarity, and the calculator completely died. Thinking that
I had fried the processor or RAM or ROM or something, I basically planned
to buy a new 86.

Today, however, I talked to the computers/electronics genius at my
school. We tested the 86, poking around testing current consumption,
component continuity, etc. The problem turned out to be a blown fuse! I
was very surprised to find out that TI put fuses in their calcs. I just
bridged the fuse contacts for now... anyone know where I can find a 250
mA fast-blow SMD (ugh) fuse?

Thanks,
Kevin DeGraaf
