I have had the same problems.  I use Connect-85 and have a home-made
link.  My best suggestion is to find a very generic serial card and
place it into your computer.  Trying disabling the computer's Com2 port
and setting the _very_ generic serial card to use only Com2.  That way,
the computer will only use the generic serial card for Com2, but nothing
else.
