Assuming you don't want to program 82 in BASIC, my first project was: display the appearance of the Moon at Moonrise at the phases of the Moon. I used Moonrise because the drawing & shading was easier. First do it AT ALL, then it can be belled-&-whistled to death. I made the "shaded" part = the bright part of the Moon. More details as you go. This should be doable on 83 85 86 too.
