Well I saved this message until she got home, and I just asked her.
Her statement is that she wouldn't even know what to look for, and when
she proctors it, she'll basically just trust everyone not to use something
illegal. However, she's a Spanish teacher... if you were to get stuck with
a proctor who is a Math teacher, specifically in Pre-Calc or any other
math/science (Physics?) that deals with such calculators, they would
probably know exactly what to look for. There IS an official list, but I'm
under the assumption that nobody uses it.
However, the root of the matter is, if you are caught by anyone at any
time using a calculator with infrared technology on the PSAT/SAT/any other
similar standardized test (probably the ACT) after the test has begun,
your answer sheet will be confiscated and destroyed.

SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test
PSAT = Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
ACT = American Collegiate Test (I think)

They're standardized tests given to high school students to see how well
they do on standardized tests. SAT/ACT scores are for some reason used by
colleges to determine whether you can attend or not, while PSAT (formerly
the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, NMSQT) scores are
primarily used to see whether you do good enough on standardized tests to
receive special financial aid (in the form of scholarships) when you
attend college.
