If you call up Texas Inst. (1.800.TI.CARES), they will send you a
calc-to-calc link for about $5.  Once you get it, cut it in half, and run
three wires (red, white, and bare) for as long as you like.

As for the infrared link, <a9501901@unet.univie.ac.at> has a
schematic/parts list for one at <http://unet.univie.ac.at/~a9501901>.  I
was planning on building it if and when <Williams.Matt@CON-WAY.COM> got
it to work.
