Heat Sinks



Heat sinks work by using conduction. Heat is transferred off the chip (or
other device to which a heatsink is mounted) by conduction, and radiated
off through the fins of the heatsink. This is basically the same theory as
connecting an alligator clip (or similar device) between the point you are
soldering and the component you wish to protect from heat damage.
