You need to desolder the ROM thats in there already (it isn't socketed)....
and TI doesn't have the updates available anyway... you'd have to dump the
code manually from another TI-82 (by editing backups, a tedious process if
even possible)

Not possible, because the screen size is different (the biggie, there are
also others).  You would also want to silkscreen new key names...  Overall,
the cost in parts and time would outweigh just buying a new calculator... =)
