Stacker? Good grief Zeen-Man! What's next.....................

Tape Backup?
2 Gig Hard Drive?
Web Browser?
FAX Modem?
The TI-85 File Server?
Windows 95 on the Graphing Calculator?
Tap beer from the TI-85? <Hummm!>
Hack TI-85 LCD to Receive Color Cable TV?
(Humm... Hit the Custom key and watch football......Hummm?)

This is a calculator man! Enjoy the fact that it's a great one and use
your PC for the grandiose super-hacks! :-)

I'm a hacker myself, but there are acceptable limits one must apply.

Besides, Stacker and other disk compression software are dangerous to data
integrity and I worked for a company that viewed installion of same on
company PC's as grounds for dismissal. I don't always agree with
corporate policy, but I do in this case, as I was the one that had to put
things right when Stacker Foo-Birded.

Here are two hacks I'd like to see for the TI-85. If I can free up some
time, I will probably tackle these myself. These are the only complaints
I have about the TI-85, when I keep it in the proper context of a
programable calculator. If I think of it as a low-end PC, then the list
is endless. <grin>

1) A fast efficient way to convert real values to strings and back.
2) A way to call the Custom menu (and others) within a program.

RIP Stacker!

BTW: The first Home Computer that I owned had a Z80 and a whopping 16K of
RAM! Bumming code to fit in tight places is a dying art with the advent
of Mega-RAM. Compared to that relic the TI-85's 28K of user RAM is no
problem with me. I'd like to get some threads going on ways of using this
RAM more efficiently by tighening up programming loops and other tricks.
Whatcha think, gang?

PS: That above computer had a cassete recorder attached to it for IO and I
almost had an orgasm when I bought a 150K single sided Floppy disk.
<YOWZER!>

DISCLAIMER: I am in NO WAY discouraging hacking, as there is a special
place in the Big CPU in the sky for ALL of us PHREAKS. I am just
blithering my 2-cents worth because I think I drank too much coffee this
fine Saturday AM. :-)
