I don't have a direct solution, but I just built the $5 parallel link
and here's the story:  the linktest.com returns the correct values on
one computer, yet using link85xp.exe to try to transfer files does not
work.  Linktest.com returns incorrect values on another machine, but
link85xp works great.  Try sending some stuff with link85xp, don't
bother with linktest.
