Fargo 'link.exe' problem...

Has anyone had success using 'link.exe' to make a backup or have access
to your TI-92? I'm using a $5 parallel link, TI-92 rom version 1.2,
Acer, 60mhz pentium processor, 16 meg ram, windows95. I have tried to
boot cleanly into dos, and run 'link.exe' from a floppy. My TI freezes
when I put the link into the I/O port. I have had my parallel link cable
working, using 'link92xp.exe', and have had success transferring group
files to and from my TI-92. When trying to make a backup from the TI to
my computer disk, 'link.exe' asks for a backup name, I press return, the
TI-92 is hooked up, 'link.exe' responds with an error 'unaccomplished' or
unsuccessful transfer, or something like that. I have heard that the
cable might need to be initialized or something, so I have tried to run
'link92xp.exe', which does 'un-freeze' my TI-92. Then, I tried to run
'link.exe', but it still didn't work, same error...

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please either post or e-mail. I would
really like to start playing with Fargo. :(

Thanks!
