A89: ROM Question

Okay, I'll probaly get yelled at for asking this, but I was wondering if
anyone had played with the *.89u file in a Hex-Editor and noticed how all
the BASIC functions are clearly visible. So my question is, if the ROM is
encrypted, why can I read that stuff? Or am I confused, and it's the
checksum that is encrypted? If it is the checksum, couldn't we use
something like GTKTILINK to send it even if the checksum was messed up, much
like when the graphlink gives you checksum error, but W32Trans4x does not?

Yeah, I know I full of s***, but I'm curious.
