RE: A89: Me distributing roms.

software compression doesn't allow you to recive more physical data/s, it's
more compressed data /s when you turn off compression and dcc a txt file
through irc you get some funny results I should let some of you try it =] I
am not sure if it's a bug in the dcc protocal or what but you'll see 11k/s
uncompressed (56k) and 8k compressed but then again a text file comrpesses
quite easily because they tend to have large chains of constant zero's or
constant ones and compress easily. I can be sure that it's not more than 5k
of physical data but then again the dcc protocal was just barfed together
anyway.

I'm not sure about this, if i remember, i'll ask my teacher tomorow, but i
don't think that you can get a program to tell you the physical speed of the
transfer. The compression/decompression is hardware based and is done in
the
modem, not software that "unzips" it.
