A89: Re: Ti port equals MIDI-port!

Hi!

| Hasnīt no one realised yet that the port signals that come from the TI are
| equal to the ones of a MIDI-Port?

What do you mean by "equal"? Does that mean that a simple send instruction
with the right data will be encoded the same way MIDI signals are? How
about acknowledge signals? I don't think MIDI has them, does it?

Anyway, looking at sndlib, it seems that you can send just about anything to
the link port.

| Think about the possibilities:
| 1) a MIDI-Monitor
| 2) a MIDI-Dump-Console
| 3) a program-changer

How much do these cost in real? I wonder if it's worth the trouble. For
example, the required timing, which has to be 100% exact, would be hard to
get, if not impossible (of course, for a simple monitor, you don't need
this, but why would you need a monitor?

| 4) Perhaps even a little sequencer... (let your TI play .MID-files on your
| keyboard...)

But MIDI files are often too large.

| Sounds interesting, doesnīt it?

Yes, it does! Do you have any links to information about the MIDI protocol?

Bye,
Sebastian
