Gry is actually a word, but you have an incorrect copy of the riddle.  It 
actually goes something more like this:

Think of words that end in -gry.  Angry and hungry are two of them.  There 
are three words in the english language.  If you've read closely, I've 
already given you the third.  What is the other word?

And the answer is of course "language".  The -gry stuff is just a 
distraction, but as this riddle is told over and over, it gets screwed up so 
it's really unanswerable unless you resort to digging up ancient words like 
gry.
