Because the screen refreshes from top-left to bottom-right.
If your routine is messed, then everything at the bottom will be lighter 
then at the top.
Just in case, write a small little program that turns every pixel on and 
then waits a few seconds before exiting (I'm too lazy to).
I'll bet my right liver that they will all be the same shade and that your 
screen is okay ;)
