RE: A86: OT: Win.ini

As for your multiplayer TI game suggestion, it is a bit harder than it might
seem. The calc-to-calc link requires instant (well, not really, but on the
order of less than a millisecond) speed to work. A good ping time over the
Internet (50 ms) would make the calculators need to run at maximum 1/50 of
their normal speed, maybe much slower. Obviously, game playing is
impossible. The only way to do it is to have the real calculator plus an
emulated calculator on the computer. The emulated calculator is a "mirror"
of your partner's real calculator, and he has an emulated calc that mirrors
yours. When you press down on a key, there would be a lag before the
assembly game you were playing actually detected the keypress, and that lag
would last until the other calculator across the Internet could receive the
signal that the key had been pressed. This would make some games fairly
playable, like Tetris, but any game that read the key ports directly would
most likely not work. That is, when you press a key to move the piece left,
the delay before the piece moved left would be your ping time with the other
computer.

But this project definitely would require an emulator, and if you were
playing an emulated calc, then your partner's calc would have to be emulated
on your computer also in real time.

Hello,

I have an off topic question that I need some help with. I have noticed
that several of my windows programs are not recognizing my registered
fonts so I did a little research. I looked in my win.ini file and found
that the [fonts] section was completely blank. I figured this is most
likely the problem. Some of my software (mainly 3rd party) recognizes
the fonts. however most windows programs do not. Could someone please
copy and paste the fonts section of their win.ini file and send it to me
at v8r@juno.com.

It would be most appreciated?

Thanks for your help,

P.S: Does anyone know of a program that would allow two people to play
multiplayer ti games over a modem or internet connection. It wouldn't be
that hard to program?

Thanks again,

Chris
