You know guys....   I suggested a very similar prgram a very long time ago...   It was a bit different than this though...  Some of you may remember it.   I suggested hacking the BASIC prgram editor so that an extra command was present under the I/O menu.  Called  BEEP(.
 
Anyway...  We never got very far w/ it, but when come accross by in the program, it would read 2 or three parameters after the parantheses separated by commas, and then give off an according, BEEP.
 
Like have the parameters be:
 
Length of beep
Pitch of beep
etc...
 
I don't think many people liked this idea, b/c they kinda shot it down last time.

Even if not midis, a program that could play a string of notes (like
the QBasic "play" command) would be useful. From there, it
wouldn't be hard to write programs that could convert from MIDI to
it, and to other(?) formats.
