Does anybody know GNU-calc?
It's a free software package, here's his brief description:

It provides, among _many_ other things:

Yes, you read it, symbolic calculus. It has been developed to be used within
Emacs, a free/GNU text-editor/mail-reader/word-processor/web-browser (and a
zillion of other things), but the most important thing is that, being calc GNU
software too, its sources are available via anonymous ftp from many places all
over the world!

There is a problem, it's written in Lisp. I don't know this language, but I
have heard many people saying that is very readable... I don't know.

Hope this helps.
