The problem is (probably) that different ROM versions store your calc's settings
in slightly different places in memory (usually - I can't say for certain that
1.3 stores them differently than 1.4, but it's one of the more common changes
between ROM versions on _any_ calc), and the TI-OS is finding strange numbers
where it expected, say, the size of your graph window.  Try sending the
variables (programs and strings) rather than a mem backup, and see if it works
better.
