yeah, 256+85=341 which is still pretty far from 213.  now 128+85=213. 
also 128+94=222.  this seems to be a connection of some kind!

ok, right now it's giving me 33 and 161.  33+128=161.  why would it
sometimes set the high bit and sometimes not?

i tried that, too.  it still gave at least two sets of numbers. 
actually, with the one i did like that it seemed to have one number if
the cursor was on when your ran it and one when it was off.
