A85: Playability

Some very good points have come up.
Why try to make the 85 do things like sound and 3d graphics when at best
they aren't that good. Sound would be neat but does it really make the
game more fun? No. Like another said, sound was just a coverup for lack
of playabilty in old games.

Games like Ztetris, Insane Game are probably the most played games not
because they've pushed the limits but because they have great playability.

It seems like we are trying to make the 85 into something it's not.
Trying to supplement what the 85 needs to be like something else.

(Right now you should stop reading if you don't want to hear more about my
game...)

When I concieved my game I first thought of the old door game BRE. I
thought it was fun but there were things I didn't like about it. Wars
were just random crap shoots, it was a pain maintaining certain 'useless'
things. Then I thought if I wanted to make it for the 85 it would have to
be a link game because BRE was a multiplayer game.
But there is no (easy) way to link several 85s together like on a BBS or
the internet.

So rather than try to work around the abilities of the 85 I tried to
make the game fit it like a glove.

In fact there is no way that my game can be faithfully be ported to
anything other than a portable gaming system. Not a computer, not the
internet, not a BBS door...

So my whole point is take advantage of the nature of the 85 instead of
trying to work around it.
