I heard a lot of talk about this type of thing before the beginning of
summer, so whether or not its stupid, it's at least popular. Besides, who is
to say it's stupid? There could be many as yet unheard of applications to
this. Don't put something down before you try it out. Heck, if you think
about it that way, you could even say that zshell is stupid (just whip out
your laptop and you get much better performance). And at the beginning, it
probably was, but now look at all the applications for it.
