You could try that... I tend to think that if the tip is stuck in there,
it will be in contact with the inside of the port, and the magnetic
field will be induced on both parts, not just the tip. I think this
means that the magnet would attract the whole link port with the tip.
(Example: hang a paperclip from a magnet, then another paperclip from
the magnet. See if the second paperclip goes to the magnet.

Could be wrong though...just some ideas.

P.S. Any chance you could buy another jack for it (what is it, 1/8th or
a little smaller).
