Let me reply as well:

I think you should definitely make a key layout like THPS2. It won't be too
hard to create this using Direct Input (just use the operator AND) and it
will add more fun to the game. I think it would be best to use 2nd as flip
tricks, alpha as grab (if you're implementing these - THPS2 like) and mode
as grind. You could then map the other (arrow) keys to different tricks
(maybe even a trick setup screen as in THPS2, that would rock!). Maybe (if
it's possible), you could also do the up/down and down/up manuals in the
game (and specials)?

BTW: is it going to be a 2D scrolling game, or a pseudo-3D game (using the
Matt3D or other engine)?
