I wouldn't say that you're an idiot, but actually, direct input does (as far
as I know) work just fine on the 83 Plus Silver Edition :).  You use port 1,
just like the other calcs.  I've tested this and everything, and the old 83
Plus programs that used direct input work fine.  Perhaps there was something
odd about your specific test?
