It might be possible to do some sort of correlation between the interrupt
and CPU frequencies, etc. etc.  I haven't given this a shot, so I don't know
how accurate or even possible it would be (probably much less possible on
the 83P than 83 due to the voltage regulator).

On the subject of TI Explorer, have you checked to see if its "battery
thing" is actually just a contrast level indicator?  I've seen programs in
the past that claim to return battery status, but in fact just return the
level of your contrast.
