On the 82/83, it is always stored tokenized.  This is why you must use
commands from the menus (meaning can't type DISP, must pic Disp from the
menu) and can't run programs from the homescreen.  On the 85/86, the text is
tokenized before it is run (which is why it takes a while to run a large
program the first time after you edit it).  But either way, the tokens are
interpreted at run time.  It's simple scripting of commands and built in
functions, nothing more.
