To the list the programs in the menu Ash first searches the VAT to find
the first 8 Ash programs, then it displays them using the normal rom
calls. A small buffer is used to store a pointer to the beginning of every
program. Very simple, but it works.

I'm just wondering how the program list in the (cr)ash menu is 
composed. I think it isn't done by chaning the VAT
