I'd like to know whether this idea is valid or not...

I have a number that i want to store in b, so i do
        ld b,14

then i call a function that'll destroy b, so i want to push b onto the
stack... From what I've read at teh Ash school, tho, you can olny push/pop
16-bit vars... So I want to know if:
        lb b,14
        push bc
        <subroutine that changes b>
        pop bc
will get me my b-value back. Thank you,
