core wars is a program in which two programs, each made in asm, are loaded
into the memory.  Each program is executed one command at a time, and each
program tries to crash the other program by first forcing it to execute an
illegal command (like NULL, nil, 0, etc).  The first to crash loses, and then
it plays another, the winning plays another, until you get this radical
program that cannot be defeated (such was the case with the computer Core,
but that took over 20 years to happen.  Surely we won't have to be concerned
with that yet).  The best part is that competitions may be staged weekly,
monthly, etc, and you can really get known as a master asm'er that way.
