1 Introduction

One day in math class, I got excessively bored (more than usual). I started tinkering with my calculator and tried to imitate a game called "Ground Assult" that I had seen for the TI-83. Over the coming weeks, I had more and more free time in the class and out popped Conquest!

I know this intro sucked. Good games don't need preamble!
2 Controls

Directional Pad

[2nd]
[Alpha]
[F1]
[Exit]

Moves the cursor, moves the menu cursor.

Allows selecting on the menu, selection of a unit, and allows you to do something with the unit after it's selected.
Allows you to check the unit's stats on the main screen.
Forfeits the rest of your turn.
Cancels out of menus and out of the program.

3 General Information
Need to know knowledge
Conquest is a very complex game. At this time, it is a two-player game, but could eventually become a one-player game.

In order to win this game, you have to destroy the other player's base. In the beginning you have the basic units: soldiers, snipers, and engineers. However, engineers can also create buildings that allow you to get other units (just make sure you have enough taxpayers to keep your cash balance in the green)!

Units that attack and kill can level up. The higher the level, the higher its attack power.

Keep buying taxpayers! They can bring in $1-5 each turn, and they can't be taken away. Use them to your advantage!

If you ever get a miner, you can use them to gather up the trees and rocks on the plain. These will randomly return elsewhere after being taken.

Game Screen
When checking your units' stats, or performing an action with them, their stats will appear in the corner. H means health, L is the unit's level, and P is the unit's power. The cursor remains on the playing grid (the two dots in the corners are the cursors). You can't make something that is not yours do anything, other than show their stats.

This unit provides power for every building in the game. Without them, your buildings (excluding base) will not function. If one is destroyed, your buildings will blackout and not allow anything to be done. These can power two buildings and towers

Tower Cost: 50 Health: 25 Power: 10,5
Towers are interesting. Any enemy units that move within a 1 space radius are attacked automatically for 10. At the end of your turn, the re-attack those units next to it for 5. However, they will not damage buildings or other towers.

Engineers are the second most important unit in the game. Not only do they attack, they can also build buildings and towers. To trigger this, use [2nd] on them twice. Don't block them in! You'll waste your money.

These gather up the trees and rocks. They get you $10 every time you take a resource.
5 Tutorial

This is just a beginner's tutorial. It'll get you started, but you figure out the strategies on your own.
  1. Load up the game and select "Battle"
  2. Push "N" when asked to make a river.
  3. Pick "9" as the maximum number of each resource. This will probably never come out to be 9 each; they overwrite each other (intentional).
  4. Wait for the screen to draw out and the "Active" message to appear in the bottom right.
  5. Move the cursor with the arrows and push [2nd] on your base in the upper left.
  6. Push [2nd] on the soldier.
  7. Move the cursor to an open area and deploy it.
  8. Move the cursor over the soldier and push [Alpha], it'll show the unit's stats in the upper right corner.
  9. Go back to the base and deploy a taxpayer.
  10. This will allow you to gain more income for the next turn.
  11. Forfeit your turn by pushing [F1].
  12. It is now player 2's turn.
  13. Move the cursor over to the other base.
  14. Deploy an engineer.
  15. Go to the engineer and push [2nd].
  16. Try moving the cursor around. See how it changes when over different things? Push [2nd] on the engineer. This will pop-up a new menu for buying things.
  17. Try building a tower. Wouldn't work? That's because you have no power. Make the engineer build again. This time, place a plant. It will allow you to make buildings.
  18. Use the engineer again to build a factory.
  19. The turn will pass over to the first player.
I know this wasn't the best tutorial in the world, but it'll help you get started (hopefully). Anyone want to revise this for me?
6 To be done

  1. Make a computer player?
  2. Bug test more of the program
