Ok, are we talking about homeless people here or something. What charity is this about. And why do the people at the charity have TI-xx graphing calculators. This question is well, full of questions.

I think the point is you write/buy programs, and the money made by selling the programs to people is given to some charity.

Ok that's sounds about right. But not many people are going to buy games for a calculator. Unless it's like a new breakthrough. (i.e. color or touch sensetive program) which will never happen anyway without modifications to the calc itself. So I'm doughting any money will be raised.

well if you advertise its for charity, some people will probably buy it just to help the charity, not necessarily for the program. Just like people go to overpriced charity refreshment stands, not just because they want the goods, but to help a less fortunate person out.

However, I'm sure the program WOULD have to be decent, like phoenix like quality or very useful.

The graphics are definitely better, and the game is too in some ways... The thing is, I wouldn't pay for either of them, or for almost any calc game at all, because the quality varies so much. I wouldn't actually spend money on a game until I'd tried it out, and, well, to try it out I'd have to pay first.

Phoenix does have a little too many versions, but I think that if you sell something like zDoom, which was worth a quick buck, you could potentially raise some money. The only trick is to manage to ID a calc so if you send it to someone else it won't work. I've been working on it, but the only way is to get a Windows tool to send it and tweak some byte in the Flash ROM that if it is not a certain value, it will not run. Of course, if you did a backup it would send your ROM too, but its more effecient than free sending. Just thought I'd chime in. Bytheway, Phantom Star IS way better than Phoenix.

See link for color on a stock TI-86. It involves stressing the LCD in a similar manner to poking it with your finger (or the blue lines program) would. That said, most people who have run the program claim it does nothing (except for about 3 people), so I guess it is not yet to the level required for a game - especially not one worth money.

It probably depends on how hard and how often you do it.

Sounds good, except not many people would buy the games. Doing the same with PC games would probably make a lot more money for the homeless people or whatever.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't see why people would start buying games, when, up to this point, practically all games were available for download free of charge. Not that I have anything against charities, but I know I wouldn't pay for calculator games...

I agree. I'd be all for creating programs for charity, but I know I'd never pay for them, so why try to force it onto people?

Well yeah, if you sold a couple games or calc services (like installing the newest OS) in math class, I'm sure you could make a few bucks, but doing it on a larger scale is the problem, as you probably know.

Under new (mis)management?
Yoshiro (Mark) Aoki  Account Info

Is ticalc.org under new management from what it was a couple of years back? I have never seen them leave broken downloads on their site before, for weeks after notification. And not reply to any emails regarding same.

My program has a broken download certificate, and they just let almost 200 people download it to their calculators anyway knowing this and having my update for over a week now.

I would rather my program be removed from this site than to be in such custody.

Why post that here? That has nothing to do with this topic. Good job!

No choice. There is no way to create topics on this site to discuss such matters.
If there were, you would advise such, rather than waste everyone’s time, right?
But there isn’t, so you are left with just being an ass.
Unless there is a way, but you default to being an ass anyway.
So either way slice it, you’re an ass.
Good job.
