Program Information:

NAME: BNETCALC
VERSION: 1.2
FILE NAME: bnetcalc.8xg
DESCRIPTION: Battle.net Ratings Calculator
LANGUAGE: BASIC
SIZE: 2997 Bytes
PLATFORM: TI-83 Plus Calculator
RELEASED: August 2001

Introduction:

This is a nifty little program i wrote to help all of us who play the awesome Blizzard games on Battle.net! Basically if you have ever played WarCraft II BNE, StarCraft or StarCraft: Brood War online, you will understand the need for this utility. What it does is calculate all the information for ladder matches. It will tell you what your rating will be after playing someone, whether you win or lose. I've seen programs like this for your computer, but this is annoying because you have to ALT+TAB while playing and by the time your done calculating, usually everyone is gone! So this is the simple alternative you can use while in game. It just asks a few questions and PRESTO! calculates all the information in seconds. Please try it out, I find it very useful and hopefully you will too!

Installation:

Installation is simple:
  1. Download and Unzip: bnetcalc.zip
  2. Be sure you have at least 2937 Bytes available on your calculator
  3. Send the file: bnetcalc.8xg to your calculator
  4. This will load the programs BNETCALC and ZALPHA onto your calculator
  5. To use the Battle.net Calculator run the program BNETCALC on your calculator, ZALPHA is just a program that allows you to type player's names with Alpha-Lock enabled.

Basic Instructions:

This program is pretty much self explanitory. But if you'd like a walkthrough of the program, follow these instructions:
  1. Make sure BNETCALC is unarchived and run it from the Program Menu.
  2. Hit enter to begin the program.
  3. Select the number of players playing in the WarCraft or StarCraft game. (2 players is the only option currently available, up to 4 or possibly 8 will be available in the future if there is enough interest.)
  4. Enter each players name. (Hint: What you enter for the name has NO IMPACT on the program whatsoever other than what to display to ask or give information. You do not have to enter you or your opponent's Battle.net ID exactly, just so long as you can tell who is who. Example: I usually just use the first couple letters of each person's Battle.net ID so I can tell people apart.) The Alpha-Lock is already on, (That's what the ZALPHA program does.) so there is no need to hit the Alpha key to type letters. My Beta testers informed me that this very convenient. When you're done entering each name hit Enter.
  5. After that you will come to a screen that asks for each player's stats. Enter the number of ladder games each player has played and also enter their rating. For ratings, only enter integers between 500 and 5000 or you will get a error screen and have to enter it again. (You can find this info by typing:

    /stats Battle.net ID Here

while in battle.net room or game.) Hit enter after entering each player's information.
  6. Now you will be at a menu. Select what you want to know depending on who wins. (Example: If you want to know what your rating will be if you win, select your own name, but if you want to see what you will drop to if you lose, select an opponents name.)
  7. You will then come to a screen which will tell you what you want to know. The first screen will tell you what the winner's rating will increase to. Hit enter and then you will see what the loser's rating will decrease to.
  8. After you finish that you will have the option of going back to figure out what the ratings will be if another person wins, or if you are done you can exit.

Disclaimer:

I have took much time in creating this program and would appreciate if you did give me credit for it. I will allow you to edit and do what you want with the program for your own personal use. However if you plan on distributing the program, which is perfectly allowed, I would appreciate if you gave me credit by either keeping the Title Screen and Closing Screen intact, or putting in my name or email address somewhere in the program so I may receive feedback from them as well. Thank You!
